BeachEncircled by three harbours, we have got 29,000 kilometres of coastline – which means a whole lot of Auckland’s beaches are within easy reach. Swimmers, bodysurfers, boogie boarders, sand sculptors, tide poolers and, from December by means of February, whale watchers all take to the sand and sea. A concrete ramp should comply with the pure profile of the beach to stop it from altering the traditional stream of waves, longshore currents, water and wind. Shell Beach, at the south end of Ellen Browning Scripps Park, gives wonderful tide pooling at low (ideally minus) tides.
